BURNET COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY

OUR PARTY

CHARTER

Texas Democrats believe democratic government exists to achieve as a community, state, and nation what we cannot achieve as individuals.

We believe in equal opportunity, fairness, freedom, family, community, and a responsibility to ourselves and each other. These are the values our elders passed down to us, the values we hope to share with our children, and the values we expect from our elected officials.

The Texas Democratic Party is a movement of millions of Texans coming together to fight for our Texas values.

COUNTY CHAIR: SUSAN O'BRIEN

PictureBurnet County Chair Susan O'Brien
Hello fellow Democrats!

It’s my honor to serve as your County Chair of the Texas Democratic Party.

I came to Burnet County from Houston in the fall of 2016. I had never been an activist, but the presidential election that year and the chaos that has ensued forced me to rethink my ‘liberal but silent’ position.

Here’s what I believe:

  • Every unique person deserves equal rights, respect and dignity.
  • A quality education is the key to bringing about positive change.
    • Immigrants have made and continue to make great contributions to our economy and to our society.

I’m willing to devote my time and energy to supporting the causes I believe in. It’s not easy being a Democrat in deep red rural Texas, but to paraphrase Theodore Roosevelt, nothing worth having comes easy.  If we don’t try, if we don’t make a start, nothing will change for the better, in our state and in our country. I ask you to join me in our noble cause – to contribute your time, skills and dollars to make a difference.
