The 2024 Election Primary is right around the corner! And though I know we have said this in past, this year it is the absolute truth: this is the most consequential election in our lifetimes.
As we speak, the Republicans across the country and right here in Burnet County are conspiring to keep you away from the polls. They have demanded a ‘split’ primary in our county on Election Day, requiring that separate check in and voting equipment be set up for each party. The result? Instead of our usual 19 voting centers, there will be only 12. Fewer voting machines will be available, the impact of which will be felt far more by the Republicans than by the Democrats. Most critically, they have denied your right to a secret ballot. You will have to stand in the ‘Democrats’ line to check in, and be clearly visible to the voters in the ‘Republicans’ line. They hope that by forcing us to ‘out’ ourselves, and risking harassment or worse, we will be too intimidated to vote. WE WILL PROVE THEM WRONG.
Here you will find the information you need to vote safely and securely in the March Primary. I strongly urge you to vote by mail if you are eligible, and to vote early if you are not.
We have several key races with multiple candidates in the Democratic Primary and your voice needs to be heard in selecting our candidates for the November election. Please do not vote in the Republican Primary. By doing so you weaken our position in recruiting candidates for future elections; you deny yourself the opportunity to attend our county convention; you reduce the number of delegates we can take to our state convention; you deny yourself the opportunity to be a delegate to the state convention; and you falsely inflate the perception of the Democrat-Republican split in Burnet County.
Make a difference where you live: VOTE EARLY. VOTE DEMOCRAT.
