The position of Precinct Chair is considered to be the most essential leadership role in our political party, as it is the Precinct Chair who has day to day interaction with the voters in their area.
A precinct is the smallest political subdivision in Texas. Precinct Chairs are officials elected to oversee individual precincts. Your responsibility is to engage directly with voters in your geographic area. Our party elects Precinct Chairs in our primary every two years. Precinct Chairs also sit on the County Executive Committee, which conducts the local business of the Party.

- Ensuring newcomers who have moved into the precinct are registered to vote
- Reminding elderly/disabled Democratic voters to apply for vote by mail annually
- Mobilizing voters and getting them to the polls
- Bridging the gap between voters and elected officials
- Plugging volunteers into county-wide efforts and local campaigns
To become a Precinct Chair, contact the County Chair for information and training. We have 20 Precincts in Burnet County, some small and some large. You must reside in your precinct. We elect our Precinct Chairs in our primary every two years. Unless your position is contested (rare), your name will not appear on the primary ballot. |
